"I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal I hope to live for and to achieve. But if need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." – Nelson Mandela, spoken from the dock in 1964, repeated in the Grand Parade, February 11, 1990
Poster designed by South African artist Kim Berman. The poster, published after Mandela's release from prison, quotes his famous statement first made at the “Rivonia trial” in 1964 and repeated in Cape Town (on the "Grand Parade") immediately after his release from prison.
