Peter Abrahams and family at his home in England. Abraham wrote a book Tell Freedom: Memories of Africa (Knopf, 1954), an account of his growing up in the slums of Johannesburg. He also wrote Mine Boy (Crisp), published in England in 1946 and by Knopf in the United States in 1955. He authored several other books. In November 1955, Abrahams spoke at an event in New York sponsored by the American Committee on Africa. This image was apparently a publicity photograph distributed by Knopf. This item was digitized by the Amistad Research Center, which made it available to the African Activist Archive. See http://www.amistadresearchcenter.org/
