A special session of United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid was held on March 17-18, 1969 with invited experts to discuss sanctions against South Africa. The participants were from religious, student and trade union organizations. Left to right, outside the Committee room: Rev. Donald Trued, Assistant Executive Secretary for World Missions of the Lutheran Church of America; Abdulrahim Abby Farah (Somalia), Chairman of the Special Committee against Apartheid; and Tim Smith, assistant for African affairs of the Council for Christian Social Action of the United Church of Christ.
