Nelson Mandela, Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC), with Jennifer Davis, Executive Director of the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) at the National Activists Briefing held at the Community Church of New York, June 22, 1990. The Briefing was attended by nearly 100 activists from 49 cities and 29 states. Others in Mandela's delegation who attended the all day briefing were Thomas Nkobi, Treasurer of the ANC; Chris Dhlamini, Vice-President, Congress of South African Trade Unions; and Barbara Masekela, ANC Head of Cultural Affairs. The committee organizing the briefing included Davis; ANC chief Representative Lindiwe Mabuza; Aubrey McCutcheon of the Washington Office on Africa; Jerry Herman, American Friends Service Committee's Director of Southern Africa; and long time anti-apartheid activist Prexy Nesbitt.
