SOUTH AFRICA OUT OF VANDERBILT OUT OF SOUTH AFRICA
Protest demonstration against South African participation in the Davis Cup tennis tournament at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. An estimated 5,000 people turned out for the March 17, 18 and 19, 1978 protests. Apparently the Tennessee Coalition Against Apartheid was a sponsor of the protests. The sports boycott of apartheid South Africa was an important international pressure. Reprinted from ACOA Action News
