The newsletter says the assassination of Eduardo Mondlane, President of FRELIMO, staggered the community of Africans and Africanists in Washington. It reports on a memorial service held in Washington, D.c. at Lincoln Temple through the courtesy of Rev. E. Channing Phillips. It quotes from the statement of Representative Charles Diggs that was read at the service and quotes from statements about Mondlane placed in the Congressional Record by Rep. Ogden Reid, Rep. Donald Fraser, and Senator Strom Thurmond. The newsletter says right-wing members of Congress have begun to insert material into the Congressional Record favoring recognition of Ian Smith’s Rhodesia. Contents: Eduardo Mondlane • Biafra • Congress • South African Airways • Other Notes
