This leaflet has an image of the Gulf Oil logo breaking the Statue of Liberty. It compares Angola's war of independence, waged since 1961, with the America's anti-colonial war against Britain. This war is costly in terms of Angolan lives; thousands of Angolans have died in their fight for freedom, and over 500,000 have been forced to become refugees. The war is also expensive in terms of dollars; Portugal's annual military budget is approximately 50% of her total budget. Gulf Oil is paying $90 million for oil rights, financially support this Portuguese war.
