Mailing sent on behalf of a committee for a national staff person for the National Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa. The mailing says the cause of human liberation, majority rule, and justice is winning in southern Africa. The peoples of Guinea-Bissau, Angola and Mozambique have recently achieved political independence and are making strides toward economic self-reliance. The confrontation in Rhodesia points to a liberated Zimbabwe with a year or so….with Namibia not far behind. And, the Republic of South Africa??? U.S. foreign policy and American economic involvement are critical factors in the time-table for freedom. Across the nation, numerous local groups are dedicated to education and action focusing on this issue. In October, 1975, a national coalition of local groups was formed in order to facilitate a more effective coordinated effort. The letter says the basic qualifications for such a staff person would certainly include knowledge of and demonstrated concern about Southern Africa issues and U.S. policy toward Southern Africa, as well as experience in organizing and administration.
