The funding appeal is in response to the visit of Patrick Lekota, Publicity Sectary of the United Democratic Front, and to an appeal from Walter Sisulu. The TransAfrica Boston Chapter pledged to contribute $1,000 to the special campaign being conducted by the Fund for a Free South Africa (FREESA) on behalf of the democratic forces in South Africa. Letters from Themba Vilakazi and Walter Sisulu attest to the importance of FREESA's work. This is part of about $10,000 that was pledged by many individuals and groups that attended the reception for Mr. Lekota organized by FREESA. The mailing mentions M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
