Press release announcing a press conference at McGee Avenue Baptist Church in Berkeley on June 16, 1978 by KOPANO and $TOP BANKING ON APARTHEID (SBOA). KOPANO (which stands for "unity") has been formed by black South Africans living in the Bay Area, and STOP BANKING ON APARTHEID is the California participant in the North American campaign to stop all banks from making loans to South Africa. KOPANO will address the struggles taking place in their country and how people can support those opposing apartheid. Community representatives will express concern over California bank support of the South African government and its repressive apartheid system. Also on June 16, a Memorial Service will be held to honor those murdered by the South African police on June I 6, 1976. The contact person is Miloanne Hecathorn.
