Petition to South African President P.W. Botha demanding the release of Moses Mayekiso, General Secretary of the National Union Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and all other trade union leaders in custody charged with "high treason" be forthwith and unconditionally set free. The petition also demands that President Botha and the Government of the Republic of South Africa immediately cease violations of United-Nations-sanctioned human rights, cease oppression of its black population and grant all its people full political, economic, social and judicial rights as envisioned and recognized by the United Nations and civilized men and women throughout the world.
