The mailing follows up on January's Steering Committee meeting of the Illinois Labor Network Against Apartheid (ILNAA). Jack Parton, Director of District 31, United Steelworkers of America, will circulate soon a petition demanding the release of imprisoned labor leaders and stronger U.S. action. Plans for a labor demonstration, a press conference and City Council and State Legislature resolutions will be discussed at the February 4 Steering Committee. Subject to the Steering Committee's okay and acquiring of city permits, the demonstration is scheduled for March 18 at the Federal Building in Chicago. The press conference will be held in mid-February. Steve Culen, Director of AFSCME Council 31, will chair a meeting to get petitions and information about the demonstration and the Shell Boycott. The mailing mentions ACTWU (American Clothing and Textile Workers Union) and ILNAA Coordinators Kathy Devine and Harold Rogers.
