The leaflet seeks volunteer international observers to help assure that South Africa's first non-racial democratic elections are free and fair. It is hoped that the presence of these observers will deter election fraud and violent intimidation during the final days of the campaign and during the voting and counting ballots. The Chicago Committee for Fair Elections in South Africa, in formation, includes the Illinois Labor Network Against Apartheid, Black Faculty and Staff in Higher Education, the Chicago Conference of Black Lawyers, Democracy for South Africa, Operation PUSH, the Community Renewal Society, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU), Chicago-Alexandra Sister Community Project, the Chicago Committee in Solidarity with South Africa (CCISSA), and the National Lawyers Guild Chicago Chapter.
