Memorandum and motion on divestment from the Divest Now Coalition to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. The motion notes that “Reverend Sullivan has called for institutions to divest from corporations in South Africa by May of 1987 if apartheid is not dismantled,” and it resolves that “the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois agree to begin the divestiture of their investments by May 1987, and to complete this action within two years if the following conditions have not been met in South Africa: 1) the abolition of all pass laws, 2) an end to the segregated living areas known as Bantustans, 3) one person, one vote representation in the government.”
