Leaflet advertising an event at the Church of the Advocate on May 16, 1993. The leaflet says African National Congress leader Chris Hani was assassinated outside his home on Saturday, April 10, 1993; Chris had dedicated his entire adult life to the struggle for democracy and freedom in South Africa. The leaflet says Oliver Tambo, National Chairman of the African National Congress, passed away on April 24, 1993; "O.R." built the external mission of the ANC and kept the organization united and persistent in the ongoing struggle against the apartheid system. The leaflet says Cesar Chavez, founder of United Farm Workers Union, recently died at age of 64, he organized the largely Mexican-American farm workers in Arizona and California, using strikes and the successful boycotts of lettuce, wine and grapes to win union contracts. • 81st Anniversary of the African National Congress
