Leaflet advertising an event on March 30, 1993 at the United Engineering Center in New York. The leaflet says the guest speakers are Adoeti Akwei, Coordinator, Africa Program, Lawyers Committee on Human Rights; Stephen F. Burgess, Assistant Professor, Hofstra University Department of Political Science; and Dumisani Kumalo, Project Director, American Committee on Africa (ACOA). The leaflet says historic negotiations are underway between the South African Government and the African National Congress (ANC) to replace that country's system of apartheid with a stable democratic system. The UN also is trying to foster democratic governments in countries torn by civil war such as Angola, Mozambique and Somalia.
