Leaflet seeking support for a South African divestiture bill in the Michigan Legislature which is scheduled for the floor of the House September 20, 1978. The leaflet says we also need letters from Michigan taxpayers and MSU alumni to the Board of Trustees for their September 21-22 meeting supporting them on their March 31, 1978 and July 28, 1978 resolutions and requesting that, in the sense of the resolutions, the Trustees proceed with the scheduled time table for divestiture, that stocks from firms doing business in South Africa not be placed on the MSU "buy" list, and "prudent divestiture" be interpreted that the withdrawal is the only responsible and defensible position for MSU as an educational institution. The leaflet asks people to write or call their State Representatives on the Bullard bill and the Board of Trustees supporting their resolutions. The leaflet discusses the civil rights act, Michigan House Concurrent Resolution No. 462, sanctions, Bantustans, homelands, the Academic Environment Committee, technology, police, military, tax advantages, Congress, the President of the United States, apartheid, the chairmen of the House and Senate Foreign Relations Committees, and the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. • Michigan State University Board of Trustees Resolution-March 31, 1978 • Michigan State University Board of Trustees Resolution-June 28, 1978
