The letter describes the work of MSN during the past year, including being active in the anti-apartheid movement. Activities concerning Mozambique include showing recent videos; conducting radio shows on local stations; speaking at UCLA, Occidental College, and at Friends of the ANC and the Frontline States meetings; and hosting visitors such as Mozambican journalist Fernando GonÒ«alves and consultant to the Mozambican government Prexy Nesbitt. In the past year, Mozambique has faced important changes, including continuing peace talks with Renamo and a new constitution that allows elections between different political parties and that changed the country's name from the People's Republic of Mozambique to simply the Republic of Mozambique. The mailing identifies members of the steering committee of Mozambique Support Network/Los Angeles: Rachel Chapman, Neil Gardiner, John McDonald, James Pfeiffer, Kathie Sheldon, and Mohammed Waheed.
