The newsletter reports on the campaign to cancel Africa's unsustainable and illegitimate debt and reports on two statements coordinated by The Africa Fund and signed by 80 prominent black religious leaders and elected officials from across the country. It also reports that, during the next several months, the Board of Trustees of The Africa Fund will be negotiating with their counterparts on the board on the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) and the Washington-based Africa Policy Information Center (APIC) to merge into a single and stronger entity. The newsletter says that, when Mozambique was hit by the worst floods in its history this past February, The Africa Fund raised over $50,000 for the Mozambique Red Cross and the flood rehabilitation Water Development and Sanitation Program of the Christian Council of Mozambique. It also reports that Africa Fund Trustee Prexy Nesbitt traveled to Mozambique in April. The newsletter says programs of The Africa Fund are State and Municipal Affairs, Faith Communities and Outreach, and Youth and Communications. It also discusses HIV/AIDS. Contents: THE BATTLE TO CANCEL AFRICA'S DEBT MOVES FORWARD • FROM THE DESK OF SALIH BOOKER • PARTNERING WITH MOZAMBICANS TO REBUILD • YOUTH AND COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM LAUNCHED • THE AFRICA FUND PROGRAMS • NEW STAFF APPOINTMENTS • UPCOMING EVENTS • DOCUMENTS AVAILABLE
