Memorandum about a delegation from Rochester to South Africa to be jointly sponsored by the Genesee Ecumenical Ministry, the coalition of churches in the greater Rochester area, and Rev. Sam Buti, Clerk of the Synod of the NGK in South Africa. The purposes of the delegation are to (a) exchange views and express American Christian solidarity with religious people working for peaceful change in South Africa; (b) express solidarity by bringing a small fund for the education of Black youth through the special scholarship programs of the South African Council of Churches (SACC); (c) observe activities of Rochester-based corporations including Eastman Kodak and Xerox; and (d) report back to the Rochester community and churches and sponsor a series of educational programs about South Africa in Rochester. Recent discussions with the delegation’s hosts were held in Beirut with the South African delegation to a conference on theology sponsored by the Middle East Conference of Churches. • I.
