Mailing to key contacts of the Washington Office on Africa about the scheduled meeting of the South African Davis Cup team and the US team from March 17-19 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Joined by the Coalition for Human Rights in South Africa, the NAACP and the Urban League, ACCESS is coordinating a massive protest of this event which contravenes many UN and OAU resolutions. Since the June 1977 Gleneagles Agreement of Commonwealth Prime Ministers, the US is now the major competitor with South Africa in sports. ACCESS is aiming for a total US sports boycott. Tennis is the only sport in which South Africa still competes for an international championship, largely the result of the support of the US Tennis Association.
