This report consists of the transcript of a trans-oceanic telephone interview with Bill Sutherland, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) Representative in Southern Africa, and Lyle Tatum, also representing AFSC in Salisbury, Zimbabwe, shortly after the 1980 election. Both men were speaking from Salisbury. John Sullivan, AFSC's Associate Executive Secretary for Information in the United States, conducted the interview. Sutherland and Tatum were in Zimbabwe to observe the election that resulted in ZANU-PF winning the most seats in Parliament and becoming Prime Minister.
