This program features an interview with Noel Mukono, Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU). The United Nations imposed sanctions on Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). The United States Congress passed the Byrd Amendment that allowed the importation of ferrochrome in violations of the U.N. sanctions. Union Carbide imported ferrochrome from Rhodesia under the Byrd Amendment. Also interviewed are two people involved in an effort to repeal the Byrd Amendment: Chris Root of the Washington Office on Africa and Jack Sheehan of the United Steelworks of America.
